Back to the River

Back to the river, to the bridge...finally. I was missing it. It was a cool 81 degrees with a cool breeze. I of course use the word "cool" rather loosely here. But in comparison to where we've been, weather wise, it felt cooler for sure.

The first stop is always on the east side of the bridge, where the river winds through a narrow overgrown passage under the trees. I looked for the Egret and saw none.

Saying just that, we turn to the west side, and there it was! Just like that. It sat on the 'dead, but living' tree (where a hawk once sat). Long bill (beak) pointed towards the water (at first), feathers ruffled in the wind, legs blending in with the half-dead tree branches.

I finished the Oak Stick weaving experiment today. I like it well enough. The last part of the weaving was a bit tricky - getting up close enough to the wood stick, while the weft thread kept catching on every rough edge. Speaking of "rough"...my end thought was for a "rugged, rough, nature inspired" piece ~ it sure looks refined and orderly. Ha. I don't know what to think about that. So I'll just take it for what it is. I also don't know what to do with it? I could add some of the black & white string for hanging, but I'm also picturing it on a little mini easel type of stand. I am always about the making and then I don't know what to do with my creations. Oh well. It was an enjoyable exploration.

If I decide to do more, I'll need to pick up more Oak Sticks from City Park. I sure wish I had more hand spun, lumpy, textured...interesting yarns. But, for now, I'll dig around in what I do have and see what catches my eye.

What adaptations do you want to make?

May you continue to find things that interest you

May you continue to partake in things you love

May you continue spread your wings for new endeavors too
