Trees, Song, and Stitch

The weather apps report 82° right now. Thursday and Friday we will be under a heat advisory when it gets up into the low 90° 's.

A musical rewrite (work in process).   Maybe you will get a kick out of my evening self- entertainment!    😂  Listening to a you tube commentator, this song came to mind. The parody came next!

My Most Loathed Things

Kidnappings, torture and wars for no reason

Busting up families and all kinds of treason

A sick old man that thinks he’s a king

These are a few of my most loathed things

Social insecurity and thugs in the street

Psychotic narcissist and his penchant to cheat

Paying for a love shack, flying with wings

These are a few of my most loathed things

Girls in old files with criminal rich men

Undoing history with the stroke of a pen

Deleted aid for the ailing, what that brings

These are a few of my most loathed things

When the thieves steal

When the liars speak

When I’m feeling mad

I work to correct my most loathed things

And then I don't feel so bad

Lyrics by NAE @pomegranatetrail ©2026

This stitching is done. I'll share the front side soon. I found that I do have a bit more leather, which makes me glad, as my resource to purchase more has not been available for a few years. The vendor who sold this at Pow Wow pre-pandemic, has not been there since. Anyway, now I can move on to the next parts.

I took apart the two name holders I'd hung onto for so long...things I was proud of - presenting at an ECE conference and two week-long training sessions, all prior to 2009.
I've been thinking about a post of Dee's where there was a question regarding "things you are proud of".
While at the week-long training, I created my own unique plastic name holder by beading and braiding. It was a good way to relax in the evenings after a long day of gathering and learning new information. I hadn't remembered there was my 'vegetarian' meal ticket, a business card and fortune tucked inside. Funny. I saved the pieces to repurpose them somewhere else. We'll see.
At any rate, I keep returning to that thought "things you are proud of"...and wonderings regarding what those things are. I don't think I am done with this idea yet.

What are you proud of?

May you redefine

May you reframe

May you repurpose

Weaving - Then and Now

Many years ago, I helped celebrate "Week of the Young Child" with our local community. I posted a photo back HERE. I brought a "warped hula-hoop", pre-cut yarn fibers to weave and small tags for the participants to add their name or how they felt about the experience or how they felt weaving could bring people together. Before they went off to their next adventure, they were able to choose a ball of yarn & note in a bag, to go. I wrote them a bit differently each of the two years I did it this way. I loved the community aspect of this event...bringing community members to celebrate and honor young children...members of the community donating their time and others donating bags of yarn, which I wound into small-medium balls to give away.  Such a good feeling when things come together in such a way.

I wove a few Medicine Bags with 'pink' at the suggestion/request of an old friend. When we met recently, I brought these 3 with me and let her choose. I actually don't think I've done it this way before. Either I find out their color likes and make something or I just meditate on the person & what I know/feel/read about them and make something...or I make a CMB and plant it out on a trail - knowing nothing of who will get it. I was excited and intrigued to see which she'd pick. She chose the one on the left. It's a happy lil bag, isn't it?

I awoke one morning thinking I really like brown and pink together, what if I try that? We had some fun conversations being reminded of candy or ice cream from days gone by. J. remembered this one, which I'd never heard of! I still have some 'pink' left, so I wonder what I will think of next?!

The one below will be off in the mail soon, for someone who likes the blues of the ocean, the greens of nature and the pure white clouds of the sky!

How do you share over time?

May you remember good deeds of the past

May you find ways to do good right now

May you share it and make it rhyme!

When we walk, I'm known to say: Ooh wee it's hot! This uttering usually leaves me thinking of the song above. I only barely recalled the beginning of the first line and that it was from some sort of tik tok dance trend. A quick search came up wit this video, which I think is so creative and interesting to watch.

MAY YOU CLAIM YOUR POWER!

At home, I've been working on the words part of the Power Sticks. I had the Metta one written out, but had considered it a failure because the letters turned out too tiny to stitch.

Low and behold...Jude posted about coloring in her hearts a beautiful pale red. Ah-Ha! I thought...I can trace over the words with my Inktense Pencils. The green pencil did the trick! I'm happy that I had saved this aside, because now it is useful and I really liked the way the cloth had dyed up. Too cool to waste.

In checking my typed list of Power Words against the written cloth version, I noticed that I'd forgotten to add "Believe". Rats. How did I do that? I knew I had shortened a couple of the phrases to help them fit, but "Believe"?? - We all need that Power right now. Lastly, I see that I have not added the last phrase either. I do have room on the cloth to do so though. Those differences are in italics above. This will help me keep track when I go to write the next one.

I read more about Miriam Makeba and this song here...and fell down a rabbit hole. Ha.

Today's walk was up the block, someplace we don't go to often...it is flat, straight, long and hot. 95° today. The river was mostly dry. I tried to imagine if it went from dry to 26 feet in a short amount of time. My heart goes out to the many suffering in Texas right now.

There was a small flock of 5 bluebirds, which don't really look blue in the shadows. There was a tree that's top branch has a mind of it's own - growing in a large loop! There was a ton of fast moving ground squirrels and one lizard. 🙂

How are you doing these days?

May you discover easy solutions

May you discover great singers

May you  discover the long path

Smile and Celebrate

 ð’“‰ ð’Ž“ ð’“‰

Today it got up to maybe, 72°...not sure. However it was chilly when we left for an early morning appointment.

Later in the day, around 10:15AM we got an alert for an earthquake incoming. It was a 5.2 quake, centered near Julian, CA in San Diego County. Seeing these elephants care for one another and know Just What to Do is really something! At first I didn't even hear the alert, as my phone was in my purse...we were walking at the bridge - right under all of those beautiful power lines! haha We did move out from under them into an open space, but truly neither of us felt a thing.

He plays with pure and utter joy! Could you imagine going out for dinner...and getting this?!!

We've been a bit spotty with the WORDLE game lately. Sometimes things are like that.

WORDLE LIFE

4/14/25
Their LIVES may have looked SEEDY to the outside observer. However, although OBESE and in poor health, their beating hearts, barely held within each of their overflowing CHEST cavities, were like an ocean which would CREST after a storm. Their lives and love were a dramatic presentation of living life to the fullest.

4/12/25
The head of the PARKS department raced over to the area, where one of her employees lay in the grass. He was having a reaction to multiple bee stings and needed the SERUM in his rescue pen. Quickly, she shouted to the NURSE on standby, call 911 and I'll inject his epipen.

4/11/25
It was best that you CHOSE TODAY, whether or not you planned to be an ORGAN donor, she said. Why? he asked are you planning to aim your  ARROW at me instead of the target?

4/9/25
She let out a sinister LAUGH, leaning back on her wooden CHAIR. It was his turn to lay out each and every SHEAF of WHEAT on the long wooden table and ready them to be expertly bundled with twine.

3/28/25
They spent a long time on the TRAIL. At the top of the hill, they could see the many ROOFS of nearby houses. She was grateful that she'd applied her face SERUM before leaving her own house, as the air was especially dry.  On the way back down she happily sang every VERSE in a very long camp song she'd loved as a young girl.

3/27/25
With PEACE in his heart and a SLEEK hairdo, he climbed behind the wheel, ready to STEER his new, SWEET ride out onto the streets for his maiden voyage. But, before he knew what happened, he took a wrong turn and drove right into a large SHEET hanging on the clothesline. His face covered with a dainty floral pattern, he drove right into the side of the barn. This day had not gone as planned.

3/25/25
The older brother BLURT out his adoration for his new baby sister. He ran to get her LOVEY, but held it himself while she was still on the SCALE. They had discovered her SPELT allergy as the cause for digestion issues and weight loss. But, since figuring that out, everything was SWELL. He sat on the floor and played with her while mother put the scale back on the high SHELF.

3/24/25
It's a CRIME they say. The GLOBE should reflect the world at LARGE as it is at the current moment. At least that is the ANGLE that the journalists present in the daily papers.

3/23/25
They kept trying to get the weight consistent with the bags weighed earlier, by shifting how they placed the bag on the SCALE. Of course this did not work no matter how many times they would RETRY the weighing. It weighed what it weighed of course. The bags of EBONY colored beads were their best seller, but the weighing issue made the team MOPEY and frustrated. After several attempts at this ridiculous goal, the whole team became overtired and DOPEY, falling into fits of laughter and ready to throw in the towel.

3/21/25
Every NIGHT when he comes to bed, he gives her a gentle NUDGE to encourage her to inch over and give him more room.

3/13/25
The old cowboy spoke in nothing but old western movie SLANG. He was living out his dream by riding his horse everyday in his well-worn CHAPS and giving CHASE to anyone he perceived as a "bad guy", which translated to anyone coming anywhere near his property.

A walk to the 'fence-change' in between appointments. Cooler today, just as lovely.

Still looking at the trees that Dee had a question about. Not cottonwood, but what? I tried a search, no answer yet.

I pulled out the two old ipad's from 2020-through-2022. I thought they were completely 'dead' - but I wanted to see if I could delete personal information off of them.
I also pulled out an old extra hard drive, which was not compatible with my 2021 laptop...but it was compatible with his. So, he wiped that clean and now has more back up.
I spent forever charging, deleting and trying to figure stuff out. I am such a dolt when it comes to this...and am not wild about how all electronics connect to each other. I might feel different if I knew what the heck I was doing! I deleted all of the emails on one of them (the other one won't even let me access the emails), as they were not needed. Boy, that was a trip down memory lane! I was surprised how many folks have fallen out of my life since 2020 and how many 'contacts' are no longer with us. What a strange thing. I also spent time with photos that had been taken on the ipad during that time. I'd forgotten all about that. I deleted some of those and went on to delete over 2400 on the second ipad...only to find out they were then deleted from my computer too. But, not from the blog...they were still there. I was so confused. And don't even get me started on the icloud!!! I was almost ready to throw in the towel and let all photos disappear! I take way too many, but I so enjoy it in the moment. Anyway, I instead decided to 'recover' them to think about it another day.

Love the look of this Crow on a Bridge.
After the second appointment, we went to a local  Outback restaurant for J's birthday. He loved his meal and was so happy to be celebrated in this way. What did they used to say? The way to a man's heart...haha. Anyway, it was a nice day together and I am grateful for a day of ease and contentment for us both.

What are your favorite ways to celebrate? How do you manage the frustrating things? Do you enjoy problem-solving? Do you want to be warned?

May you live through the shakes ups

May you celebrate those you love

May you celebrations involve well-loved food

Stringing Pearls (beads)

A chilly, windy, rainy, cloudy day today. Late in the afternoon, the sun tried to peek through, but was not all that successful. No walk today. And tonight, late, the wind is seriously howling and whistling down the corridor.

WORDLE LIFE

3/12/25
The children loved to sneak through the OAKEN side door at the haunted MANOR at the end of the road. The mystery and ghost stories were great and they did pay attention to those, but what they really loved was the ancient MANGO tree at the far end of the property. It had the best mangos they'd ever tasted!

3/11/25
The University students POSIT that every food in the school cafeteria has the possibility to be intolerable to at least one in the group of 150 nutrition majors in their class.  The instructor wants to TABLE this idea until they provide a way to track and prove their theory. He announces that making a claim without that just isn't his THANG, so figure out a way to test and TRACK before class meets again, he requests.

3/10/25
She is not fond of swimming in the ocean, as it HURTS her eyes. She complains that the  SALTY water reacts negatively to her eyes and sinus system as well. But, she hangs out with the wrong group of friends, who are insensitive to her sensitivities and plan beach days just for SPITE.

3/8/25
She had many, many PAINS in her abdomen. When NAKED, she could see the small incision scars circling her NAVEL. It would take some time to heal.

3/7/25
Every child had found at least one GRAPE to eat from the community garden's vines. They were so  PROUD of their contributions and excited by all of the growth. Every day after school and on weekend mornings they would TROOP out to the garden to water and pull weeds. They were quite happy to see their hard work pay off.

3/6/25
They heard a SHOUT come from the room down the hall. Then a FAINT moan was heard. Fearing the worst, they ran into the children's playroom, only to see the five of them playing cards in the middle of the floor. What's the matter? the adults asked. The oldest sibling answered that she was DEALT a great hand, but her youngest brother intentionally made a face that gave her away in an ALERT to her other siblings.

3/4/25
He VAMPS around his world as if he is the best thing since sliced bread. But, really he is a BREED of his own. Just him and a few friends are but a FLECK in the universe. This will all CHECK out when history is reviewed through a rearview mirror.

3/3/25
You could hear the FUNKY music all the way down the hill at the bakery, where the baker made the best BREAD in the county. It wasn't entirely CLEAR what was happening up the hill at the farm until the music stopped and you could hear the hum of the tool made to SHEAR each sheep in 3 minutes flat.  Holding that tool while it was turned off made it look as pointed as a SPEAR

3/2/25
Her favorite QUOTE was written like a METTA meditation. She lay in the BERTH reciting it in her head and feeling the rocking motion of the water. Amazingly she'd only had CENTS in her pocket when she met a kind soul on the JETTY. He had more than one DEITY tattooed on his upper bronzed body, which shimmered in the afternoon sun. This was the beginning of their years long torrid love affair.

3/1/25
The once rich lady HATES that her husband and the government took all of her money and she now lives in a HOKEY old time HOVEL. What makes it even worse is that she is alone and is located across the road from the main hospital. She hears the helicopters HOVER over the landing deck on the roof at all hours of the day and night. She wonders how she ended up here?

2/28/25
He was CRAZY. They all knew it. He is like a volcano of FIZZY hatred, just ready to explode. All it takes is a rational comment that his FUZZY brain can't understand.

2/27/25
The old man took his RUSTY pick and walked to the open plain and down into the ravine to his old CLAIM.  His trusty dog LOPED alongside him for the 1/4 mile trek. Later, as the day came to a close, they made their way back to the LODGE to build a fire, make some fixins and turn in early, as they knew tomorrow would be another long day.

2/26/25
The little boy did not want to eat his PRUNE, which had been plopped right in the middle of his oatmeal. He sat staring at it and thought, I wish I had a ROBOT that could eat that prune. His imagination drifted away. It would have a MYLAR balloon in one hand and a hat with a spinning wand that would SPARK when I spun it around, he added. It would be a great robot, he dreamed. I would win an AWARD for making it.

2/25/25
As usual, he dribbled SALAD dressing down the front of his shirt, making it too DIRTY to wear to the party later. I'll wash it out by hand immediately, he said, and then throw it in the DRYER. It should be done by the time we have to leave.

2/24/25
The doctors' GUILD held a meeting on the 15th of last month. Their eyes were all GLUED to the screen as they watched a video of a new procedure for a GLAND replacement surgery. The results of this new surgery would provide much better outcomes for their patients.

2/23/25
There are 15 TOADS in the first aquarium, she WROTE in the log book. Their RETRO style log book also had a page to record the OTTER population, so she did that next.

2/22/25
The new UNITS were READY for renters. The owners had refurbished them from top to bottom, so now they were the CREAM of the crop for this neighborhood.

2/21/25
While tasting the meal, she began to CHOKE. She was able to begin coughing, so it ended up as nothing more than a CLOSE call. A few moments later, she realized she'd coughed up a tiny piece of CLOVE, which had landed on the table.

𒓉 ð’Ž“ ð’“‰
The video below was shared in the latest post by my niece. I like the book and the theme of it and was a bit surprised how well it fits today, considering this video is from four years ago. It seems like such a good conversation starter. Enjoy...

Tonight this video (below) landed in front of me and I thought well, isn't this interesting. I have very little lived experience with beavers, but I have to say that it makes me smile just knowing that there are folks out there that help rescue and care for them. Something Wild is home to some of those folks. I've seen a lot of dog and horse rescue groups, but this is the first I've seen for beavers. It sure makes me happy to see good people in this world of ours.

Hawk called out a lot this evening. 🙂 Another moment of happiness. I practice stringing them together like beads on a thread.

What moments of happiness do you string together?

May you write your words

May you learn new things

May you string your beads
