On A Tuesday

Greeted by a fence lizard, blue belly and small face poking up.

Returning to the Bridge on another hot day.

Warm breeze stirs up feelings

As firetrucks pass by

The last of the "Theo of Golden" research done

She has traveled the world through music, languages, art and museums

She has explored unknown vocabulary and ideas

Her world has been expanded and she is content

"The Swan is an enchanted bird, Or so the legends tell, And certain he plays the part exceptionally well, He proudly arches up his neck, To show that he's in charge. As royal as the figurehead on any royal barge. But if you ask him: If it's true what fairytales portray, He simply gives a knowing look, And slowly glides away."

The lush riverside brush sits still in the weight of high heat

The water runs clear, bringing memories of her youth

and a trip to Mineral King

But nothing else moves

"Springtime. An end with a future" - Theo of Golden

She checks on the tree that won't give up

She considers that, giving up, as she often wonders

What am I doing here on this blog?

How does it matter at all?

Who am I talking to?

Stats show up as thousands of people

in countries where she knows no one.

Those she once knew here, have moved on

Do her rants or poetic wording or recording serve anyone but her?

Who cares what she ate for breakfast?

Or if she gets frustrated by shoelaces that won't remain tied?

Or some tired story from days gone by...

Days gone by.

Who are the 14.8K people of Brazil or the 9.47K people of India or the 8.6K in Vietnam?

Where is Seychelles? Google will tell her.

The same river

Some walking

Reports of air quality and temperature and things being made

These simple things that make up a life

Health concerns brushed away

Psychological introspection kept to herself

As are the judgmental observations of the world around her

Viewed as not fair to the others, or herself, or humanity

Yet, she is driven to keep going

To make visible a quiet life

To remember it for herself

And her thousands of fans world wide

Who is she talking to?
Perhaps that does not matter after all.

* She fully realizes that her viewers may not be real, but are instead bots or online hacking or? But, sometimes she likes to imagine otherwise.

**BTW~ Images of Seychelles are beautiful!

What do you wonder about?

May you bear the questions

May you bare your truth

May you move forward

Little Things

It remains hot here. My back did a little "tweak"...so I'm doing small things. Making, reading & writing, taking photos. Relaxing.

LINK 31:45 minutes

As seen in the previous post, I was inspired to play with my new watercolors in the way seen in this thumbnail pic. Paint a blob, see what you see, draw it in with a fine line. Today I added to what I saw in the paint.

It may be hard to tell what I saw. Maybe you can zoom in? The big purple blob is Barney the Dinosaur (I was never, ever a fan of that one!!) and the orange swirly blob is a tornado. The little purple/pinkish blob is a creature peeking out and saying "Boo!"

Recently I had some good conversations with J. and my son about A&W Root Beer floats, so of course the A&W mug jumped out at me.

I think I want to do this again, but not as separate blobs, but rather to paint much of a page as we used to do in Jr. High. It takes a relaxed mind and practice to see what has not been intentionally placed there.

Power Sticks: I did a little driftwood sanding today, as one of the pieces was a bit rough. I really like the feel of working with wood and have always wanted to do more. My biggest dreams are wanting a carved Hawk, about 1-2 inches tall. I can see it in my mind's eye: it is very smooth, almost a rectangular block shape - so no out stretched wings or long tail feathers or sharp beak. I want to be able to keep it with me, in my pocket. Perhaps I will start by trying to draw it? I've also had the idea to create a small cube, rounded corners...made from a gorgeous piece of wood, smoothed with - what? oils? But, a small cube as I read about in the book The Tao of Pooh, "the wooden block". I did draw that one a couple of years ago. I can see it so clearly in my head.

#11 Driftwood

BTW~ I opened up the page (up top) for "The Shoe Project" again recently. I'd been thinking about it with all of my gluing, so thought I'd make it easily available again.

What small things fill you up?

May you feel good enough

May you find things to create

May you grant yourself grace in every moment

A Story

I've been thinking a lot about stories lately. The ones we tell, the ones we hear. The ones we tell ourselves when we need them or the ones we tell ourselves, but are not all that helpful.

This has become a story, stitched on leather. I've stitched and given away many of these, each one different. Something that I've noticed is that between the first one and the most recent ones, the stories have become richer, fuller...holding more symbols.

This one will go out as a bookmark in the wonderful Crow and Weasel by: Barry Lopez

BTW~ The two funny looking things on the right side of the mountains are Meadowlark feathers, her favorite bird. Well, or my clumsy interpretation of them, due to my best guess and online research. The yellow one looks like a banana to me 😂

I've made a little Record of Symbols that I've used on the leather pieces. I wonder what symbol will come to me next?

I was inspired to paint today. This is the first step. More to come.

It was super hot here today, over 100 degrees. Hot enough to stay inside and play.

What kind of making has become your favorite to do? How do you see your making style?

May you evolve your familiar making

May you try new kinds of making

May you keep a record
