Balance

At times like these...

balance is a fine art of living

When things are a blur and a wish is worth holding onto

When colors mean something and their twisting, braiding and knotting means more.

When those wishes, prayers and good thoughts are nowhere need enough.

When things seem more bleak than beauty, more bleak.

May we help, actively help where we can

May we move through the grief

May we find some balance

Seeing Stars, Winter Solstice and One Heart

Everywhere I looked this week, I saw stars.
Tonight on this Winter Solstice, continuing with December's
"wishes and stars"...
I wish you all much light and love and a basket full of wishes upon a star to come true!

Now, for a few of those stars...

I found this paper-thin dried tomato out in the back forty.
I love the lacy look and the fact that there are tiny seeds inside, which make a great soft rattle when I shake the tomato.

*As always click on photos to enlarge*

When I turned it over...a star!

Driving to work last week...wait...what's that?

Do you see it?
Not easy at 45MPH!

Yep. another star!

A few days later...

Hey, more stars...bright red ones!

Upon stopping to make a photo of them I notice more!

A pretty tacky star...a flower star,
both of which actually looked pretty cool when lit up on my dark drive home.

There were so many holiday light stars on the way home last night.
Everywhere I looked, I saw another one!

Yesterday, a co-worker wore a star shirt she created on a whim.
Evidently her shirt was stained, so she took a marker and
colored a huge star on it to cover up the stain and then added a few
smaller stars as well!

Last star in this week of stargazing was noticed right next to me
on the end table next to my side of the couch...
a star from my dear Michelle in NYC.

I wonder where I'll find stars next week?!!

May you look to the stars and dream.
May your heart hold much love and peace through this Solstice Season.

Stitching Growth, Saying Good-bye and Thanks and Continuing

Today I stitched 'growth' on the cloth.
It came to me that this was a good time for some of that.
End of the year, beginning of the new year.
End of my beloved class with Jude Hill, at least for now.
But, maybe forever.

So, then, Growth it is.
As the old quote states:
"There are two things you give your children,
one is roots and the other is wings".

Today, that was the thought...
that Jude has given us all such a great foundation to go off and create with.

However, more than techniques, tips and stitches,
she has given us inspiration, community and
the ability to throw open the doors and windows and see the world with
an expanded vision.

We have gained friendships, memories and insights
from Jude and from one another.
Our lives have been enriched beyond description.

We have been silly, serious and sad.
We have shared life's joys and sorrows.

Many have lost loved ones, both two and four legged,  in their personal circles and
we all lost one in our large tribe in the world of Spirit Cloth, Dear Herm.

We have embraced one another in these tender moments.

We have embraced one another in the moments of joy
as new lives were welcomed, both human and goat!
Or chuckled when conversations turned ridiculous in wine filled wee hours.

We have shared stitching and stories.
We have shared ourselves.

We have learned.
We have grown.

Our lives are better for having traveled this way together.
We will continue 'just going'.

My deepest heartfelt thanks to Jude for her generosity in sharing  herself and for creating this amazing community.
To all of the clothmates I've met along the way,
each one of you has been a blessing in my life.
I am grateful.
I couldn't wish for any more than this.

Stars & Wishes

Over at Diaries, December is a time of Stars and Wishes.
So of course, in just the last couple of days, I've gotten an email with
"starcatchers" in the title and heard an advertisement on the radio for a play
And it's only December 3rd!

Visually, everything is coming up stars and wishes too!

Can't wait to see where the rest of the month takes me!

I did a bit of star drawing and pondering and planning.
Star stitching will come soon enough :)

What have you been up to?
