Our walk today was back at the canyon road into Mentryville. Last night we got some rain. Not a lot, but I had thoughts about the CMB I'd relocated to the front gate. If it was still there, my plan was to bring it home, let it dry out and replant it. We saw it still hanging, swinging in the very strong breeze, but as I felt it...it was actually dry. So I opted to leave it while we walked, since there was a lot of people coming and going...maybe someone would see it.
Only 72 degrees, beautiful clouds and that breeze...strong enough to take J's hat right off his head! I wondered about the spaces in between the hills...places to dream about.
I photographed the older gate, twice. Haha And I tried to capture the shine of the charred fence post, to no avail. This led to me to thoughts of scars and how they show up or don't...how one must be in just the right spot to 'catch the shine' - to see the scars of another and understand that pain.
I also tried to capture the movement of the wind through the cottonwood...also to no avail.
When we got back to the front gate again, I decided to leave the CMB right where it was and to let go and trust. After all, I put it out into the universe, so my job is done. Trust & let go. We popped over to the City Park bridge where I had planted two more CMB. One was there and one was gone. It's a process. We may get more rain in the next few days. We'll see.
I've been rereading "My Peaceful Forest - Reflections of Life in Pacific Grove" By Elaine Breen. The charming short, humorous stories are like comfort food in stressful times. Any book with the word 'peaceful' in the title fits the bill right now. I'm also prepping for the upcoming election. I'll be glad when that is over. Really.
May you find peace in the scent of rain
May you find peace in the letting go
May you find peace in your day to day
