Sharing the Pretty+

Off we went...

A Friday drive. North and North-west.

Even the vast shades of Brown were beautiful when set against the bright Blue sky.

We comment on the fire danger, especially with the winds and a fire watch warning.

Even still, what a fine day.

Sunny-Warm-Cool Breeze

Interesting plant life and Rock formations

The wind whistled through the trees here.

Strange plants catch our eyes.

Looks like an extreme artichoke!

Old Oak tree grove, slight hill

Rock formations layers, showing millions of years.

On our way home, we stopped to get pizza. I'm still a bit nervous about picking up food. But, we did and as I waited in the car, this was happening.

If you look at the photo, I'm sitting in my car, just to the left of the building.

There I sat, waiting, tracking all of the comings and goings of those around me, getting groceries and picking up food. People were out! Busy!

Very unnerving to find out why the black and whites came rushing in.

I was so ready to get home again.

BTW~ while looking up what had happened while waiting for pizza...

I came across this one too: New condos

We'd just drove home past this area and I'd wondered why the temporary fence was there?

So, we went North and relished in the lack of people, come back to too many people and a robbery...and plans begun for more people, where there is not room. It's kinda hard to see, but if you look at the small real-view map at the end of the article, you can see the approved area. All of those little buildings towards the bottom are mobile homes. It is a fairly small park, with all of the homes, so the entire park, sitting in a ravine of sorts. It is very low land, which flooded in every rainstorm since I moved here in 1984, making it barely or totally inaccessible for all of the residents. Finally, maybe  a half dozen years ago they fixed the drainage problem, including a new bridge going in. I wonder how rearranging the land above will impact those residents now? Do I really need to add that most of those residents are brown and black folks?

Yeah. Right.

So, I'll leave you with a bit more pretty...

May you travel and return home again

Safe and Sound

usually I like seeing your picture here, but most definitely not adjacent to a crime investigation ... going out in covid times is fraught enough as is

that thistle-y plant is so intriguing ... hope you will be able to return to that location someday to see it in full flower

Nancy, your first and last image, blue and brown and blue and spiky, are terrific. I've always loved the combination of sky and earth.

Enthralled looking at the spiky, dried plants. Along the trails here, depending on the season, we have similar plants and I have always liked to gather a few to bring indoors, especially during fall. One day I found an unusual spiky dried plant;, to this day I have no idea what it was. This plant had tall stems with many closed pods that rattled when shook. My "decorator self" said I had to arrange them in one of my woven containers. All was well for a time...until, the pods opened, black seeds feel out and fluffy white strands drifted all over the table and floor causing an avalanche of sneezing...so I'm a bit more careful with what I bring home these days!

Liz~ For sure, that's why I ended with more pretty! That's a good idea, to go back in another season. There were a couple places on this drive that we really do want to go back to.

Marti~ Me too. When cropping, I try to leave that contrast, both of those elements in the frame. Oh what a lesson you learned. Depending what the plant life is...I always worry about many bugs coming with it, as that has been my past learning experience! Yikes!

I'm inspired to take a drive next sunny day. take a different route. get some pictures.
I didn't mean to snicker at a purse-snatching, but not far from here, gunshots in the middle of crowded streets or malls are too common. And no one ever seems to get arrested.

Deb~ Yeah, it wasn't the biggest deal, but of course I didn't know that at the time. I coulda made a good car jacking get away car! L.A. & carjackings. Ha
lol As I write this, extremely loud, so close? fireworks (?) - I'm guessing. I've gotten to where I just assume it is that.
Remember when you only heard fireworks on the 4th of July? Haha, not anymore. And so many sirens these days, all the time. I wish these were different times for us all.
I do agree a drive would be nice. Driving and photos are my go too.

Such a different landscape than the one outside my window. :) Thank you for sharing.

Deb~ Yes, exactly! I love seeing the land where folks live...like your tree lined trail from the other day :)
We'd all be a lot less enriched without this sharing.
