The Very Hungry Caterpillar

My sunflowers are growing!  Yippee!

Yea!  Sunflowers peeking over! tall?

Mushroom falls over....Ker-plunk!

WAIT...NO.............BUT WAIT...HEY!

A-HA...there you are!
Look at this little guy!  Oh no there's two!

So we move him...and HIS LITTLE FRIEND TOO over to the tomato plant, which has grown like crazy but Will Not Produce Any Tomatoes!  :(

Where can I go from here?

Because I don't like it here!

I like the underside of the sunflower!
I want to eat THESE green leaves!
So what's a kind-hearted woman to do?
Yep...but the two little friends back and hope they won't eat All of the sunflowers!!!

Sweet little 'pillar...what can one do indeed! A sunflower seed sprouted in my cactus on the front window sill this Summer (gift from one of our feathered friends). Now it's almost as tall as the cactus, both inside for shelter from the storm winds. We are all snug as bugs in rugs so far. I do hope it blooms when it goes back out for what should be a week of sun once Irene passes. (hey, will you send me your email via email (mine is on my blog) - it's the only way I can send pictures that I don't plan to post but want to share.)

This little guy was amazingly fast at both eating and moving around the plant! I'll have to go check and see what's left!

amazing what those little guys can consume. i used to plant extra for the bugs when i had my vegetable garden but they managed to get to all of the plants. the sunflowers grow wild here.

I have an all-purpose non-toxic problem solver for chewers of all kind. Murphy's Oil soap diluted in water sprayed on. Won't hurt the plant or anything that eats it but they dont like the taste apparently. Washes away with every rain is the only downside.

Deanna- Yes these two have had a feast since yesterday! Wild is nice :)

Deb- Good idea, but I guess only if they can go find food elsewhere. These two don't have many restaurants to choose from! I don't want to just starve them out. Since these sunflowers are purely for fun in a tall window box thing...we'll just share for now!
But I did see lots of little black specs, which I think is poop...hoping it is not eggs!
Thanks for your suggestion. I will keep it in mind.
