Tea and Cabbage

Place tea and fabric in glass canning jars.
Place purple cabbage and fabric in the dye pot.
Add water.
Leave in sun for as long as you can stand to wait, to see the mold begin to grow, to smell that cabbage as you pass by!  (It was well over a week - I'm not patient with this)
These have not been rinsed, washed or anything except a slight rinse with the hose and hung on the line to dry in the hot sun.
They've been forgotten out on the line for two days.
We'll see what happens next.
They may be used on the MD cloth, that is if I can get the smell out!

Hurrraaaah to ecodyeing,Nancy.
Thanks for your visit.
I see familiar photo's: your grandson stitching! Mine is seven and wanted to start too. (but now it is still lying around a bit...)

There is simply nothing as good as a tea stain! I like Jude's idea of putting it in the freezer.
Thanks for dropping by Tanglewood Threads...so glad you like all that scratchy stitching!

hey, look! we're on the same page today. though yours looks like it will have a happier ending. i do love what tea does- you can count on it- in cloth & in the morning.

I love everything about tea...but the actual taste! Haha
I've decided I have the time and patience for dyeing with the most basic tea, onion skins, and maybe some red dirt!
